Rainout Policy *

We wish every day during the season was sunny, but unfortunately, that is not always the case in Utah.

If it is raining before the game

The Salt Lake Bees have every intention of playing each game, even when the weather forecast may call for rain. Our world-class grounds crew and excellent field drainage system give us a great chance to play baseball regardless of how much it rains during the day. A decision to play, suspend or postpone will often NOT be made prior to the scheduled start time of each game, and a game’s start time will more likely be delayed before an official decision is made. This is done to allow additional time to evaluate the weather forecast.

There is NO SET TIME for the postponement of a game due to weather. Each weather situation is different and includes unique circumstances. Any time weather is an issue, we weigh factors including the amount of rain the field has already absorbed, the likelihood of future rain, possible rain duration and the severity of additional weather. The decision to postpone a game due to weather is made with these and many other factors in mind. The safety of our fans and players is always at the forefront of our decisions.

If the game is postponed before the scheduled first pitch, the decision is immediately posted to our website and social media channels, and will promptly be passed along to local media outlets as well. If our social media channels have not given a recent update then we are still working toward playing the game that day. Please follow the Bees on Twitter/X @SaltLakeBees for the newest updates, or check the homepage of slbees.com to see the most recent tweets.
If it rains during the game

Once the lineup cards have been exchanged at home plate, the authority to postpone, delay or suspend a game switch from the Bees front office to the umpire crew on the field. Their decision cannot be overridden.

Rain delay

A rain delay is when the game is officially delayed before or after the scheduled start time. Play will continue later that day/night. Tickets cannot be exchanged in the event of a rain delay.

Rainout or postponement

A game that is rained out or postponed will not be played that day due to inclement weather. When this happens, the game is usually rescheduled into a doubleheader the next time the two teams meet.

Suspended game

A suspended game is a game that is stopped early and must be completed at a later date from the point of termination, though not all terminated games become suspended games. When this happens, the game is usually rescheduled as a doubleheader the next time the two teams meet.

Picnic admission ticket policy

In the event of a rainout, your admission ticket will be good according to the Ticket Policy above. If the group would like to reschedule their event, the main contact will need to reach out to their Bees sales representative for possible options.

Picnic food and beverage

If The Ballpark at America First Square gates open, food will be served in the picnic areas rain or shine.

If stadium gates are opened prior to the postponement of the game, the picnic food and beverage will not carry over to a future make-up game. Guests can remain in the picnic area for up to one hour after the announcement of postponement if they wish to enjoy existing picnic food and beverages.

If a game is postponed prior to stadium gates opening, food and beverage orders will transfer to the mutually agreed upon game.

Luxury suites policy

Luxury suite tickets for a rainout game cannot be exchanged for another suite. All luxury suite tickets will be valid for non-suite tickets according to the above Ticket Policy.

Luxury suite food and beverage

If The Ballpark at America First Square gates open, food will be served in the suites rain or shine.

If stadium gates are opened prior to the postponement of the game, the food and beverage orders (both pre-orders and event-day purchases) will not carry over to a future make-up game. Guests can remain in the suite area for up to one hour after the announcement of postponement if they wish to enjoy existing in-suite food and beverages.

If a game is postponed prior to stadium gates opening, food and beverage orders will transfer to the mutually agreed upon game.
